Michael H. Thaman, president and CEO of Owens Corning discussed the global outlook. “We see improving markets around the world in composites,” said Thaman. “Some of the emerging markets where we saw weakness last year — particularly in Brazil, India and China — appear to be picking up.” He added that the “bright spot” in the industry is the United States, and the automotive, construction and wind market segments hold promise. “We expect 2013 to be a strong year for the composites industry,” he said.
