InfinitPipe claims to be the world’s first green on-site-manufactured carbon FRP pipe. Can you describe what makes the InfinitPipe “green”?
Other pipes are often built in a factory, anywhere from 50 to 100 miles away from the project site. These projects have to be shipped to the site, and the carbon footprint of that shipping alone is tremendous. Our pipe has a couple of advantages: The weight of the pipe is about 10 percent of a concrete pipe of a comparable size, so we have a lot less tonnage of material to ship. Also, the companies have to ship the finished pipe, so you need a lot of truck loads to ship them. In our case, we could perhaps send three or four containers of raw material, and another that transports our manufacturing equipment, and we build the pipe right away. Those are tremendous savings in the manufacturing process.
