AC Marine & Composites Supports Inspiring Sailing Competitor Hannah Stodel

UK-based AC Marine & Composites has announced its support for Hannah Stodel in her quest to be the first disabled sailor to complete the prestigious Vendée Globe race – a round-the-world single-handed yacht race, sailed non-stop without assistance.

Hannah Stodel Racing (HSR) officially launched its 3-year Vendée Globe 2020 campaign on May 13 this year. Hannah Stodel, a three-time world champion and four-time Paralympian, will be the first disabled athlete to solo circumnavigate the world. A C Marine & Composites will be acting as Stodel’s official composites consultant and boat modifier, providing custom fitting modifications and technology to accommodate her needs.

“The Hannah Stodel Racing (HSR) team are driven, ambitious and innovative, qualities which we believe mirror A C Marine & Composites’ fundamental principles,” said Alex Newton, Director & Head of Manufacturing at A C Marine & Composites. “We are extremely proud to have been selected by HSR to support her in this record breaking quest and look forward to working together to accomplish something that has never been achieved.”

Hannah Stodel adds: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with A C Marine & Composites in the run up to the Vendée Globe! Having worked with Alex through three Paralympic cycles, there aren’t many people that I would trust for this job. Moving from the Sonar keelboat into the Class 40 and finally the IMOCA 60 – it’s important to have experience, drive and above all a shared mind-set to break records and to make this dream a reality. Alex brings that to the HSR through A C Marine & Composites and I’m so glad to have him and his team behind me!”

The Vendee Globe starts in France on November 6, 2020. You can follow Hannah’s journey on Twitter – @sailinghannah.
