According to Solvay, its prepreg-technology, which consists of fiber reinforcements pre-impregnated with a resin matrix used in creating a composite part, provides exceptional performance at lower weight compared to metal structures.
Boeing has had preexisting relationship with both Solvay and Mubadala Development Company for years. Solvay has provided composite materials and adhesives in support of all Boeing Commercial Airplanes programs for 30 years. Boeing and Mubadala Development Company’s relationship started in 2009, and have since signed several agreements to advance their collaboration in aerospace composites manufacturing. Mubadala officially became a long-term Boeing supplier in 2013.
“Boeing has been a key global partner of ours for years,” said Homaid Al Shimmari, CEO of Aerospace & Engineering Services, Mubadala. “Together with Solvay, we will further develop our capabilities in advanced composite materials production in order to expand the supply chain and create a materials ecosystem. The creation of a new manufacturing facility at the Nibras Al Ain Aerospace Park supports our efforts of delivering on Abu Dhabi’s Economic Vision 2030 by developing a regional Aerospace Hub for Abu Dhabi.”
