The new Ebusco 3.0 18-meter electric city bus was designed by a team of experts in aerospace,
automotive, and electronics with comfort, safety, and a low total cost of ownership in mind. The use of lightweight composite materials allowed the diverse Ebusco team to meet these goals.
The composite side walls of the Ebusco 3.0 are filled with foam providing high thermal insulation and reducing energy consumption of the heating and cooling system. Thanks to the lightweight structure all axles can be equipped with a single tire allowing for an extra-wide flat aisle. Accessibility is enhanced for passengers with disabilities and for all passengers as they move within the bus.
The floor-integrated cobalt-free LFP (lithium ferro-phosphate) batteries are not only safe and durable, they also assist with a low center of gravity providing comfort for operators and drivers.
The Ebusco 3.0 18-meter bus boasts a starting weight of just 14,500 kg, up to 27% lighter than buses built of traditional materials. The lightweight body with the battery packs of 350+ and 500+ kWh provide the bus with a range of up to 700 kilometers on a single charge. The bus has a maximum capacity of up to 150 passengers and a lifespan of up to 25 years.
Peter Bijvelds, CEO of Ebusco said, “I am immensely proud that we are presenting this ground-breaking 18-meter bus today. With about a third of our workforce working in R&D and engineering, we continuously manage to develop at high speed. This has now resulted in the lightest and most efficient articulated bus in the world.”
To meet demand for orders, the company plans to scale up production in 2023 with a line dedicated for articulated bus models.
