CM Interviews caught up with several Lobby Day attendees to find out about their overall experience:

What is one thing you’ll take away from your Lobby Day experience?

“Business cards from potential colleagues!”- Lee McGetrick, director of the Carbon Fiber Technology Facility at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

“Reconciling the need for advanced manufacturing in the automotive field with the need for jobs and trying to bring that all together is going to be a difficult and challenging problem that will be fun to solve.”- Steve Rodgers, owner of EmergenTek LLC.

“There are a lot of new ideas about where to use carbon and where to use glass fibers. There seems to be several areas that indicate that something’s going on but then there are other areas that could be using more technology and I certainly think those can be addressed by working with people.”- Scott Beckwith, technical director at SAMPE.

“We were able to learn first-hand information from key decision makers in Washington.”- Ted Lynch, vice president at SAMPE.

“We still have a lot of challenges up ahead and we have a long way to go but we’re moving in the right direction.”- Sriram Gopalan, technology engineer at Sonix.

“It was a very educational experience and the members of Congress seemed quite interested in what we had to say and they were very attentive.”- Marc E. Anderson, director of sales and marketing at Baltek Inc., a subsidiary of 3A Composites.

“It was great to meet with the members of Congress and to see how interested they were in what we had to say. It was just a wonderful experience.”- Antonio Quinones-Rivera, staff toxicologist at Ashland Inc.

“I believe we picked up eight new members for the composites caucus and we have new support for the good science efforts, so it’s been very good experience overall.” – Roger Mola, director of Regulatory Affairs for Fiber-Tech Industries, Inc.

“We also know that our concerns are the same concerns for not only our industry but for many unrelated industries and if we keep pushing, it’ll be great for everyone.”- Roger Mola, director of Regulatory Affairs for Fiber-Tech Industries, Inc.

“We had a lot of great communication with several members of Congress and many of them are eager to help with creating jobs.”- Perry Bennett, health, safety and environmental director at Molded Fiber Glass (MFG).

“We are fortunate to have representatives who are grounded and understand that there’s a need for more business opportunities to help the everyday person succeed.” Anthony Bennett, technical development manager at AkzoNobel.

“The one thing I know I’ll take away is that I’ll do this again!”- Richard Higgins, president of HK Research Corporation.
