The Ford GT is America’s only LeMans winning supercar. As the GT enters the final year of production, the 2022 Ford GT Heritage Edition is designed as an updated interpretation of the 1964 original.

“There are a lot of milestone moments in the history of Ford GT that we’ve celebrated, but the team was unanimous in believing the original prototype was the right vehicle this time around,” said Mike Severson, Ford GT program manager. “That 1964 prototype unleashed the creative genius of the Ford Advanced Vehicles team and paved the way for the Ford GT program. It put all of this in motion.”

New features of the 2022 GT include exposed carbon fiber behind the 20-inch Antimatter Blue-painted carbon fiber wheels, an exposed carbon fiber front splitter, side sills, mirror stalks, engine louvers, and rear diffuser with gloss finish. Carbon fiber is also used extensively in the GT’s interior, including carbon fiber door sills, lower A-pillars and console, and matte carbon fiber registers. Even the seats include carbon fiber – the Lightspeed Blue Alcantara® seats are wrapped in carbon fiber and finished with silver stitching. The seats and headrests are emblazoned with the GT logo.

The numerous updated features of the GT enhance the original design features, including the Wimbledon® White paint and a triple racing stripe.

“This is the first Ford GT Heritage Edition that goes beyond celebrating race wins – this one goes deep, and honors the earliest of Ford supercar heritage,” Mr. Severson further explained. “The Ford GT ’64 Prototype Heritage Edition is a modern interpretation of the original, with no mistaking what this car is paying tribute to.”

The 2022 Ford GT Heritage edition is scheduled to begin production in January 2022.
